Xmas with family meant a trip to the Gold Coast and shopping in Brisbane.
After a walk through the Art Gallery and Museum (beautiful, peaceful
places), we walked over the bridge into the Queen St Mall for a little
shopping. For the Brits who read this- you thought you had the only 'Eye'
didn't you? Well Brisbane decided to copy.

Hidden track

I've finally been able to get some time to explore the new surrounds and
plan how to get to work. There's a hidden track that cuts about 10 mins walk
to the railway station that's also a rather pretty walk (so long as the
snakes stay home!). I might need to be part mountain goat to manage one
section of it, but there'll be no need for a gym membership I guess! It's
rather exciting to discover such a secret place that only locals know about.
The entrances to the paths are well hidden.

The new temporary place
The new, temporary backyard is still in the Blue Mountains just out of
Sydney, but a bit closer to Sydney. For Geodyne- it's in Blaxland near the
railway station. As soon as I get a chance I'll go exploring the hidden
treasures at the end of the street- seems to be a bushwalk of some kind. In
20 years of living in the mountains, somehow I keep managing to find houses
with no back neighbours. This place is rather nice but I miss my dishwasher
and it's not much of a backyard so will have to go exploring further afield
for 'stuff'.
Yellow flower is Kangaroo paw
Red flower is Grevillia (Robyn Gordon I think)
Trees are Scribbly gums x 2 and another gum- don't know the name.

Smiling moon- brings good luck
Tonight the moon was smiling- just for us southern hemispherians. The moon
and Venus and Jupiter were in a smiling formation. The newspapers today said that
the last time a similar thing occurred, the moon was in a frown (upside
down) and many bad things happened the following day. "There was an upside-down sad face visible on the morning of April 23, 1998," he recalled. That day's Herald was dominated by news of conflict on Australia's waterfront, protests against child-care costs, big rises in bank fees and executions in Rwanda."

Boab trees

Hey Jig along,
I thought I'd captured some of the boab trees but they're pretty pitiful
photos considering they're such beautiful trees. If you have the chance,
could you please get a pic of one of the big ones for me, please, please???
And here endeth the Broome series. Not bad for a 4 day visit. :-)
