Note to self:

This particular seed feeder is not very effective at precluding
starlings. As I'd feared, the holes are just big enough for them to cling to
the cage and stick their heads through and they've emptied half the feeder
into the seed tray and on the ground in a matter of days.

This weekend
I'm going to try to put a couple of extra wires over the stragtegic holes in
front of the seed openings and see what that does. Failing that, I'm going
to buy another cage which has a smaller feeder, but comes in a square cage,
too deep for them to reach.

Put out a new seed feeder this morning

And I hadn't even finished tying it up before it had the Robin seal of
approval.
